Poems for The Crucible
The Foundry
Artisans of industry
casting sculptures of infamy
elemental bursts of flame
molten and melted,
oozing pillows of glass and iron
red hot drop in a pool of steam
masked art deco men tooling
crude and cumbersome crafts
revealing the imagined form
birthing butterflys from bricks must give one kicks
The Furnace
Latex and eye liner
timid exhibitionists
playing with fire
the culture of counter
building social connection
under the spinning lights
a place to belong
and feel the same
in being different
the unsucked and pierced tongue
speaks loud and clear
what seems so far, is often near

Art and Reflections of Anthony Sternad - Poems for a rebirth
"Denny Does Breakfast"
slippery forks poke
puffed patties aside
pan fried and made to order
salty bacon crisps and bitter brew,
butter knifes scraping toast
polyester 'unies' sporting
used name tags
on patton leather flats
Bring your check to the register dear,
Its only $4
"Short Bus"
Limps and groans
shouldered burdens shared
in the struggle of life
forgone loss and resignation
to test the boundaries of optimism
as the struggle of life
to take the short bus
on the way and on the move
as the struggle of life continues
"Can I have a taste?"
Just a nibble
it looks so tasty
all shiny and pluckable
skinny sticky fingers
licking lasting flavors
of tangy tot tested treats
Eat me when im not looking
smacking chews of a bus riding nub grubbler
dont even share, cuz I dont want any anyway
